A scanned copy of a framed map that measures 27 7/8" x 32 1/4" (frame). Typed notation at upper left of map reads: "Map originally made for Col. William Collins. First drawn in the earth or sand with a stick then in detail on the skin of an animal with charcoal then given to W. O. Collins by Bridger. Collins then made this exact map-Caspar Collins gave it to John C. Friend (Rawlins-died 1922) and gave it to Grace Raymond Hebard." Hand printed note states "Friend to Hebard in 1912.) Frame is dark distressed wood, glass front, professionally framed by Perceptions Plus. Has a wooden border inside the frame edges. Small gold placque at center lower edge reads: "Rans Baker Thank you for preserving the history of Carbon County, The Power of Place March 2008." Map shows Little Snake River area, South Park, Fort Laramie, Fort Halleck, North Platte River, Sweetwater River, Bitter Creek, many other rivers, creeks, mountains and plains, very detailed for the time.Collection
