Black and white print, snapshot. Image of two men each holding a piece of a human skull. Man on left is dressed in double breasted light colored suit with wide patterned tie and striped light colored shirt. He is holding the lower facial portion of the skull. Man on the right is wearing a dark suit, patterned tie with chain tie clasp and white shirt. He is holding the top of the skull. Both men are wearing hats. Man at right wears glasses. Wood plank building in background. Pasted to lower edge on emulsion surface is typed label: "Dr. Ben Sturgis, Carbon County Coroner in 1950, is holding the lower part of the skull of Big Nose George Parrott. Lou Nelson husband of Dr. Lillian Heath is holding the skull cap. Caption partially obscuring the photographers mark written o the original negative in lower left margin:"Meyers, Rawlins, Wyo." Written on back in black ink: "Carbon County Museum-Given by Mrs. Ed. F. Bennett". "Mounted". Written on back in blue ink: "Dr. Ben Sturgis Carbon County Coroner[.] holding lower part of skull of Big Nose George Parrott which was found in a barrel on Cedar Street May 12, 1950 and Lou J. Nelson holding the upper part of the skull[.]" Stamped on back in black ink: "Frank J. Meyers, Photographer. Rawlins, Wyo." Written on back in pencil: "Page 41, pix3 2x3 46%." Top edge torn on left side. Dents at center top edge. Emulsion crazed and cracked throughout . Pin/nail hole at center bottom. Caption attached to emulsion with unknown adhesive. Double sided tape and paper residue on back at top and bottom. Update 2012: Add 1 original, 7 1/2" x 9 3/8", glossy, black and white print. Photo has been cut down. Written on the back: " Frank J. Meyers, Photographer, Rawlins, Wyoming" In upper left: "found in the whiskey barrel" Condition: Fair; wrinkled, faded, torn up from bottom
