Black and white scanned print. Snapshot. Image of a large group of men gathered around a vintage automobile. Front grill to steering wheel is visible; lantern on left fender; rope and shovel tied to right fender. J.S. Cassidy liquors building and others in background. Written on back in pencil: "American" "Thomas Flyer" in front of Rawlins Depot Dinner Tues. Mar 10, 1908. New York to Paris Auto Race." Writing on back slightly impacting image in upper right. Printed off center to left. Update August 2011: Black & white original print on black mat. Written in pencil on yellow post it note on back: "The Thomas Flyer". America's entry in the New York to Paris Auto Race of 1908. Picture taken in front of Rawlins UPRR Depot Diner, Wed morning before noon Mar. 11, 1908. Looking N.E. toward J. S. Cassidy's Liquor Store on N. E. corner of 4th & Front." Written in black: "Front & Fourth Sts. March 10 crossed out & changed to Mar. 11, 1908" Written in black ink: "Rans" in a circle with "Rawlins, Wyoming" around outside of circle. Good condition. Paper rubbed on mat right, indent in center, emulsion. Size 6 7/8 x 8 7/8"
