Description

Black and white print attached to a gray matboard, 7 3/4 x 10, it has a darker gray decorative border printed over the mat surrounding the print. The photo depicts a large Shriners parade with two men leading the group dressed in dark pants and Shriner fezes on their heads. The man on photo left is wearing long black coat and the man on right is wearing a regular dark suit jacket. Behind them is a band with primarily drums. These men and one boy are primarily wearing white spats except for one man, and they are all wearing dark colored fez type head wear. The long line of men and others extends into the photo's left horizon. They are parading up the dirt street along side of the Carbon County Courthouse on the right side of the photo. The two story sandstone structure has three chimney's on the back part of roof and a widow's walk on the front part of the roof with a pole extending up from the widow's walk center. A short sandstone retaining wall is seen on far side of street by parade route an din front of courthouse. At photo center right edge shows the corner of a white wooden house. Several houses are seen in distant horizon. Good condition: Matboard has a few black ink drops at bottom right corner. Slight soiling on matboard edges and top surface. Slight smudges and scratches on photo surface on tip half of print. The Ferris Studio, Rawlins, Wyo is stamped into lower right of matboard. Written on back in pencil: Parade of Korien [sic] Temple, Rawlins.
