Picnic at the Platte River, Aug. 14, 1894. J. A. Rendle, Nellie Sullivan, Maggie Candlish, Mamie Carr, Effie Seelye, Lillie Bruning, Dot Redebaugh, Stella Jungquist, Eva J. Cantlin, Homer France, George Stone, Bob Dyer, W. J. Edwards, Ida Story, Bob Jungquist, Madge Edwards. Earnest Durant who is not in the picture--maybe the photographer. Update - 2009: Two original black & white prints attached to off white mat boards. They are both the same size. they both have developing anomalies of myriad white blotchy areas on top half of image at various locations. Image of a group of men & women seated on the ground in an open area around a white cloth with picnic laid out on it. Trees in background. Multiple seat buggy in background left. Women are in long dresses; men are in casual suits. Copy 1- Print has been attached to mat at an irregular angle & is not center on mat; it is skewed to left. Mat has been cut down. Print & mat is fair condition fading & soiling. There are dark smudges on all edges. There are many scratches, scuffs, & fingerprints. Corners are bent & worn. Back surface left edge is worn & abraded. Top right corner is bent. Written on back in blue ink: picnic at the Platte River in horse & buggy days. Among the group is Homer France, Nell Sullivan, Bob Jungquist. Copy 2 - Fair condition. Mat has been cut down & is irregularly sized. There is heavy soiling on all mat edges & surfaces of dark smudges & a red mark at lower edge. Corners & edge of mat are worn & bent. There is a tiny circular stain on mat back surface. Print is highly scratched & has a sandblasted look to surface.
