Black and white print attached to black mat board. Print shows a large room with vintage floral wallpaper and border. A large group of 19 men are in a semi circle around a casket and funeral arrangement in the middle of the room. The men are dressed in dark suits, vests, shirts and neckwear. Someone has written numbers 1-23 over them in blue green ink that correspond to names on matboard back. Two were numbered twice. In the foreground are floral bouquets lying on the patterned carpeted floor. An Elkhorn chair is covered with ornate floral arrangements. Behind the buckskin fringed back rest of the Elkhorn chair is a flag covered table? with a mounted deer head resting on a box on the flag. The casket is to photo right of this display. The casket top is covered with ornate floral arrangements over entire top surface. The casket has ornate metal handles seen on visible side and is resting on an elevated wheeled device. There is a dark wooden mantle behind men on the left an windows to left and right of this mantle. On left window frame at top outer edge is large letter P. On right window top frame, left to right is the letter O, mounted large elk head, and the letter E. A tall dark wooden cabinet is against wall photo right with a long hanging light descending from high ceiling. A floral shaped covering is attached to cart and covering the top of the bulb. Engraving on matboard corner right: The Ferris Studio, Rawlins, Wyo. Engraved parallel line border surrounds print edge on matboard.
Listed on back of photo in blue gree ink: "Taken in the old Elks Hall that burned down. (Odd Fellows building), on the corner of 4th and Cedar street, the Post Office was downstairs in this building until the new Post Office was built. John Fridley's funeral, June 1908. There are two lists of numbers on photo back. List on left has been crossed out. List on right reads as follows: 1. Emile Kreuger[sic]Krueger; 2. Jim Clause; 3. John Hartt; 4. Will Reid; 5. Condition is good. Matboard is warped on top and bottom edges resulting in lifted edges. Slight wear and abrasions on matboard with bend corners and exposed gray matboard on sides and corners. Miner soiling on matboard edges. Print surface has a few white spots and tiny blur on left side resulting from developing process. No scratches visible.Collection
