Jungquist Hardware Store, Rawlins.
Update - 2009: Two black & white prints & one black & white copy print. Image of a dirt street with three joined buildings along it. view is of a corner property. Building at center of image has signage: "Hardware [twice on roofline]" "WAGONS & IMPLEMENTS" "STOVES & TINWARE" Second building has sign: "Railroad and city Mission" above door. Telephone pole at corner.
Print 1: 8 1/16 x 9 15/16. Written on back in pencil: "Smyths" "Jungquist Hdwe" "Pete Foster's Store" "Opera House" "Rawlins Street Scenes". Stamped on back in black ink: "Meyers Studio Rawlins, Wyoming".
Upper & lower left corners bent - emulsion cracked. Upper edge torn near center. Cracks in emulsion throughout. Red fingerprint marks near tear. Transparent tape & tape residue at top edge on back.
Print 2: 5 x 8 contact print made from glass plate negative. Removed notes that had been taped to back - transparent tape still present 5/23/2009: Opera House Building erected in October 1884. Dr. Osborne purchased opera house in Jan 1888 for $2200. Frew & Pop purchased in December 1904. Destroyed by fire in October 1906. Foster rebuilt building after fire of August 1884. March 1890 Louis Schalk notion store. April 1890 Buchanan and Ed Cannon govts goods. Sept 1891 Tom O'Donnell Furniture Store. Building burned in October 1906.
New Jungquist store built in August of 1884 to replace burned building. M.E. Hocker partner with Jungquist in October 1885. Nelson and Ware bowling alley in basement Feb 1902. Chas Miller Furniture in Sept 1903. Weightman Bros meat market in December 1904. Building burned in October 1906. Photograph in 1905
Writing on back impacting emulsion. Paperclip mark in upper left. Emulsion cracked throughout.
