Description

Mr. Froling in 1908 measuring the foot of I. J. Rendle Update 2008: Black and white print. Snapshot. Mounted on dark grey matboard. Image of the inside of a shoe store with three employees and one customer in view. Left and right walls lined with boots and shoe boxes. Half wall in background has row of boots on top. Workmen at back of shop with several sewing machines separated from customers by a low wall. Display case and wooden chest covered with boots and paper roll on main floor at left. At center is a customer seated in an upholstered horn chair having his feet measured by another man in shirt sleeves. Written on back in blue ink: "1-ac Interior of the Frank Froling Shoe Shop located on Cedar Street in Rawlins. Taken in 1908 and shows Mr. Froling measuring the foot of I.J. Rendle for a pair of boots. Mr. Froling came to Rawlins in 1896 and operated this store for over 50 years." Written on back in black ink: "copied by State, mounted, 182" Written on back in red pencil: "Page 35, pix 4 2 x 3 1/2." Mounted on acidic matboard. Mat cut down to image from original size. Edges uneven, rough. Large adhesive stain in upper left corner on mat back. Mat back and image surface soiled; fingerprints through center. Image surface scratched. Update February 2011: One black & white print. Typed on white adhesive tags: "Interior of the Frank Froling Shop located in Cedar Street in Rawlins. Taken in 1908 & shows Mr. Froling measuring the foot of I. J. Rendle for a pair of boots. Mr. Froling came to Rawlins in 1896 and operated this store for over 50 years". Stamped in black: "Copy Provided by the Wyoming State Archives and Historical Department". "182" Good condition. Slight creasing, wrinkled, paper & adhesive on back top. Size 5 x 7"
