Description

A black and white print glued on ecru colored matboard, 5" x 6 1/2," showing an end railcar with five ladies wearing long skirts, long sleeve blouses, their hair in updos standing on the standing on the railcar end platform and steps holding onto the protective railing. A man wearing a dark conductor's uniform and hat is standing on photo left to end railcar. A man in a white uniform and white chef style hat is in front of rail car with the ladies on platform behind him. the railcar is parked on a vertical rail track. A curved railroad track is seen on left curving to the left. There are several buildings at side left background, with sparsely vegetative hill rising in far background. Other buildings are seen in distance on right side. The end railcar has other train cars attached extending down the track into the distance. Written on the front of photo in red pencil: Town of Carbon, Wyo around 1900. Fair condition. There are remnants of glue seen on all edges of photo. It has heavily soiled mat and photo, worn emulsion with white patches seen where it has been lifted; print is soiled with scratches and other imperfections. There is a newly scanned copy of this photo, 6 1/2" x 8 1/2."
