Description

Rawlins and Laramie ball team, June 28, 1897. Laramie won 9 to 2. Rodney Reals, early day sheep herder, gave this to Mark Jackson. Reals, P. Degron, B. Harris, Lashor, L.B ? Gray, S. S. P. Klein, H. Kline, manager. Two of Laramie team not present when the photo was taken. Three of the Rawlins team not present. Price Bracken and Coligen was the Rawlins member not there. Same team played in Rawlins, July 4, 1897. Laramie again won with a score of 11 to 4. Coburn and Featheral were the Laramie ?. Update 2/2010: Black and white print. Snapshot. Mounted on grey matboard. Image of a group of men posed in rows in front of a raised wood frame building. Two baseball teams in uniforms with a group of men in suits behind them. Seated is a group of 8 players and a coach(?) in a suit. Uniforms are light colored with dark "Fans" across the chest. Standing is a group of 7 players in uniforms with 4 men in suits at center. Uniforms are dark with light "Rawlins" across chest. Written on back in pencil: "Rawlins vs. Laramie June 28, 1897 Score 9 to 2 favor of Laramie. Bottom row L to R[:] Reels, p. [;] Degron, 2B. [;] Harris C [;] Lasher 1 B. 2nd row: Tray, SS [;] P. Kline 3B[;] H. Kline[,] manager[;] Logan C [;] Kemler L.F. [.] 2 of Laramie Team not present when picture was taken .Also 3 of Rawlins Team not present. Price[,] Bracken and Cohgen was the Rawlins men not there. Coburn and Featherstone was the Laramie absent. Same team played in Rawlins July 4-97. Laramie again won. Score 11 to 4 favor of Laramie. Mounted on acidic matboard. Cut down from original size-edges rough and uneven. Holes drilled in upper corners. Image scuffed, scratched and covered with fingerprints; ink marks on emulsion. Image raised through center.
