Laying of the corner stone at the Elks Lodge, Rawlins, 1908-09. Update. - 2009: Black and white print. Snapshot. Mounted on black matboard .Image of a large group of men standing on a stone foundation on wood planks laying the cornerstone of a new building. Women and children can be seen on the ground in foreground. Men all dressed in dark suits; several carrying canes. Carved in cornerstone: "Erected 1908 building Committee J.H. Clause, C.E. Blydenburgh, J.B. Doty". Written on back in black ink: "L T Nelson 1908" "organizations-e" "finished around 1910" Written on back in blue ink: "Laying the corner stone of Elks Club-1908" "-1909" "Among the spectators H. Larson, J.A. Hobbs, Judge Homer Merril[.] Given to Carbon County Museum by Lou T. Nelson" Written on back in pencil: "45%" [red.] "Page 77, pix 2 2 1/4 x 3 1/2" Mounted on acidic matboard. Mat warped. Edge & corner damage. Back scuffed & slightly soiled. Front & emulsion surface soiled; fingerprints on emulsion.
