Description

Front Street, 1891, Rawlins. Update - 2009. Black & white print on tan mat of early day Rawlins' Front Street. Image of covered wagons with mule teams harnessed to them. There are three rows of wagons that have printed on them: "Wyoming Transportation CO". Teams are at least 12 mules. A line of men is standing on boardwalk behind teams. Business signs on buildings: "Photographs" "The Capitol" "The BonTon" "Saloon" In the distance are other buildings, signs include: "Hardware" "J E Osborne Chemist" "Rawlins Drug Store" Written in blue ink on mat above print: "Front St. 1891 - Rawlins, Wyoming Written in blue ink on mat below print: "Loaned by Rufus Winrow, son of William & Emma Winrow who came to Rawlins in 1885" Written in black ink on back: "Rawlins, Wyoming in 1891" "Rufus & Arthur Winrow" Written in pencil: "Loaned by Rufus Winrow son of William & Emma Winrow who came to Rawlins in 1885 from Kansas. Wm worked as a teamster in Rawlins" Condition: Good. Creased, liquid spots, emulsion impacted, accretion. Mat; very soiled, bottom ripped, corners torn off, holes across top, liquid spots, accretion, scratched.
