Description

When you sit in the Governor's Room, ever wonder who's the guy above the buffet? Well it's a portrait of H. Townsend Davis, who was one of the 11 Country Club governors in 1889 – the club's first board. The portrait was done by Mrs. Cecil Clark Davis who entered it into the Chicago Artists 7th Annual Exhibition in 1913. All this information is contained in the gold plaque at the bottom of the painting.
