Current owner (2024) is Caleb Ricks. Also known as the Stearns-Bixby-Richter House. The main portion of the house was built by John Stearns (1828-1829). William Freeman Vilas, a nineteenth century US postmaster General and secretary of the interior, lived in the house as a child until age 10. The house is on the east end of the North Common adjacent to the Congregational Church of Chelsea.
