Context

The house was built in c.1830 by the successful Hale Family who built the gristmill, as well as other buildings in town, and owned and kept the Dodge (or "Hale") Hotel. Between 1873 and 1907, Captain W.H.H. Hall resided there and farmed the 25 acres associated with the residence, now the school's athletic fields. From 1917-1929 the building served as the Chelsea Inn run by Charles and Edith Dickinson. The Waterson Family occupied the site from 1929 to 1969. Today is the Forbes home.
