From A History of Chelsea Vermont 1784-1984: This school building in District #2 is thought to have been built in 1811 to house the lover grades. It was expanded after 1870 to accommodate Academy students and later on thigh school students. It was moved to the east in 1912 to make way for the new high school building. In its new location it was used as a gym from 1919 to 1948.
