Logging the old fashioned way - with horses and a sled in winter. Trees were cut by hand using axes and large, two-person crosscut saws. Horses were used to haul logs out of the woods. They were then brought to the river, where they were floated down. Men would “burl” the logs to get them free and moving in the water.
