Where H.O. was first manufactured.Chester, N. Y.: This photo postcard depicts an industrial site, the H.O. factory which was located in Craigville, N. Y. just down the road a bit from the brick blacksmith shop. Hornby's Oats (H-O) were first manufactured here in about 1872 by Alexander Hornby, using the Cromline Creek for water power. The scene shows multiple weathered buildings, grist & rolling mills, and factories, constructed primarily from wood. A large building to the left features a sloped roof and multiple levels, appearing functional but aged, hinting at its industrial past. In the foreground, another structure displays residential characteristics, with visible windows and a porch, nestled among mature trees.
