This monochrome photo postcard captures a rural scene in Chester, N.Y., featuring two men and a horse-drawn wagon loaded with boxes, possibly from the onion crop harvest. The wagon, drawn by two dark-colored horses, stands on Chester meadows with fields extending into the distance. One man, atop the wagon, is handling some of these boxes, while the other, standing beside an organized stack of crates, appears to be either loading them. The reverse side written correspondence and postal stamps. The handwriting reads "Take good care of Dode - Mary." Labeled as "Property of Chester Historical Society." It's addressed to "Mr. Jack Lowery, 434 Sacket St., Brooklyn N.Y." and shows postal markings from Chester, N.Y., dated July 29, 1908, with a green Benjamin Franklin one-cent stamp affixed. The red notation indicates that this card was used in the 1992 Village of Chester Centennial Book.Subject Place
