Dear Members:
A few months ago, I mentioned during a meeting that I'd received a call from Louise Urbanski Hirst. She wanted to donate the clock that was in the Board Room of the Chester National Bank (now Village Hall) to the Chester Historical Society. This morning, I met Louise and her husband John. They are up from the State of Florida visiting her brother in Pine Island, her hometown. She gave me the clock. It is a Waterbury Clock-Calendar #34, circa 1893. It is an 8-day time, in an oak case, measures 29 1/2 inches in height. It is valued at about $1800. She asked that the clock not be sold but be kept by the Society. I filled out the donation form and the clock is in the office in Village Hall. Caution: it is a wall clock and must remain upright.
Lynne, I'll send you their physical address so you can send the thank you (I didn't think to bring it home).
Ginny, I'm sure you want to put this in the newsletter -- I have a few more photos but these seem to be the best without showing too much clutter in the office.
