Description

James Manufacturing Company cast iron dairy cow water bowl, circa 1920 From the days when Bairdlea, now known as "Fury Brook Farm," operated as a dairy farm. This invention allowed a cow to drink as much and as often as she desired. The cow would simply press its nose on the grate in the cup to release the flow of water into the bowl.

Context

The Bairdlea Farm ceased operating as a dairy farm in about 1980. Following the end of dairy operations, the barn was converted to the manufacturing facility for Fabco Power, one of the world's leading producers of hydraulically driven generators.

Note

Fabco Power Proudly serving the world from Chester, New York Family owned and operated by the Fury family for 50 years, Fabco Power is located in an historic barn just north of the hamlet of Sugar Loaf. From this location they have become the world-recognized leader in the mobile power industry with a customer base that spans the globe. Working and thriving in a nearly 250 year old structure has its challenges, but the preservation of this landmark property and maintenance of the rural character of this area are very important to the Fury family. Having worked to have the farm placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004, the Furys are only the sixth family to have owned this land - which can be traced back to its earliest record in 1667. A working farm throughout much of its history, the property continues its rich heritage with careful consideration to its past. Each of the farm's structures are still clad in traditional clapboard and barn siding and painted regularly in historic colors to maintain their rural and cultural charm. Any modification to the main barn to accommodate the business has been kept to a minimum; integrating the business into the existing structure rather than altering the structure to the business. Great effort is made to blend seamlessly with the barn's rural aesthetic. Choosing to locate his business in Chester after moving his family to Orange County, Bob Fury Sr. wanted to live and work in the community that he called home. Today three generations of the Fury family work in the family business. When he moved the business to the barn it was first as a tenant of then long-time owners Leonard and Frieda Baird, whose family had operated the land as a dairy farm for many years. When the Bairds decided to sell, Bob purchased the property that he had come to love so much. His son, Bob Fury Jr., lives on the farm and is raising his family there. Eventually the property came to be called Fury Brook Farm in honor of the rushing water that flows seasonally on the property on the southern side. Bob and Cookie Fury, circa 1979 Bob, Cookie and Bob Jr. with show team, 2014 - - - Fabco Power Setting the Standard in Mobile Power Our History Fabco Power has over 40 years experience in the portable power business. In the late 50's and early 60's we built generator sets for the U.S. Military for use in foreign conflicts. Our generators were manufactured to rigid Government Specifications and our facility had to conform to the tough quality control requirements of MIL standard 9858A. In the early 60's, we designed and patented a unique vehicle mounted (under the hood) generator that revolutionized the mobile power industry, the Powerrnite™. Thirty years later Fabco Power is still manufacturing our amazing Powermite™ generator. The Powermite™ is the benchmark that all under hood generators are compared to. Recent advancements in technology led to another patent on the unique Powerrnite™ voltage regulator. In the early 70's we designed a new concept in mobile power units, hydraulically driven AC generators. It took 10 years until this new concept was accepted. Fabco generators once again revolutionized the mobile power industry. Since that time our generators have replaced electric engine generator sets in an increasing variety of industries. In 2000 we developed a precise hydraulic generator system with +/- 0% frequency control and have received a patent on this system. From the 1970's to present Fabco Power has been the leading manufacturer of hydraulically driven generators in the world. We are a worldwide supplier of mobile power. Japan, Great Britain, Australia and South America are among the many countries we serve. Fabco Power generators have been used by the U.S. Military in both war and peace time for the past 40 years. Most recently Fabco was called upon to supply generators in Operation Iraqi Freedom. After the September 11th tragedy, Fabco Power was called upon to supply our generators to the U.S. military in Afghanistan. Prior to our involvement in Afghanistan, Fabco Power supplied generators to the U.S. Military in Operation Desert Storm. Fabco Power manufactures under the strict IS09000 standards. It is our commitment to strict quality control and reliability that makes Fabco generators suitable for use by the U.S. Military. It is that same commitment that makes Fabco generators the only choice to fulfill your mobile power needs. At Fabco we constantly strive to remain the worldwide leader in mobile power. We do so by our commitment to outstanding quality, on time delivery, excellent service and competitive pricing. Often Imitated ...
