This monochrome photo postcard depicts a quaint, two-story stone house nestled among mature trees, with its distinctive features including a wraparound porch and stonework facade. Known as the Colvill Carpenter House, the house is believed to have been built as early as c. 1760. It underwent a raising of its roofline in 1809, probably with the intention of providing room for a full second story. A datestone reading "RA 1805 may well refer to a carpenter or mason who worked on the expansion. At the time of this photo it was the farmhouse of Ira Green, on the Washingtonville Road.Subject Person/Organization
