Two Young Couples with Horses, Chester, N.Y.Entry/Object ID
chs-012925Description
The vintage black-and-white photo postcard dated Aug. 22, 1906, depicts four individuals—two women, two men, and two horses—posed outdoors near a wooden fence with tall trees in the background. The couple on the left holds the reins of a horse, while all individuals are dressed in early 20th-century attire, the women in long dresses and the men in work clothes and hats, suggesting a casual, rural setting. An inscription to the right of the image to Jessie, references a safe return home and a party attended, and Dora asks if she knows any of these people.
This postcard was addressed to Miss Jessie Campbell in Central Valley, Orange Co., New York, stamped with a green one-cent Benjamin Franklin stamp, postmarked August 22, 1920, from Chester, NY.Subject Place
