Before Cuba became a Communish dictatorship Havana was a popular American tourist stop, and the Chinese-Cuban community was a significant one. After 1959, many Chinese-Cubans (and others) emigrated. Some refugees came to New York, where the Cuban Chinese restaurant became part of our culinary landscape.
