Erh Hu. Front: Two large yellowish tuning pegs stick out of the top left side of the instrument's dark wooden neck. A string attached to the top peg runs lengthwise down the banhu's neck and attaches to a knob at the very bottom of the body; another broken string hangs from the bottom peg. At the very top of the neck is a small gree/gold peacock emblem above the printed word "PEACOCK" and several other Chinese characters. Midway down the neck is a large protruding bridge, over which the intact string runs; another smaller bridge sits near the bottom of the body's top surface. Back: The body seems to be made from a hollowed out coconut shell, and has an open back. The Erh Hu is accompanied by a horsehair bow (2000.002.00008b).Dimensions
