Back: "Ancient Chinese No. 12."; "In certain processions in China, men wearing the cangue appear. They also have their hands thrust into leather or wooden cuffs. To these cuffs is often attached a brass chain which passes over the neck. On the cangue are slips of paper from the temple where they have had certain vows recorded, relating to benefits received. The cangue is worn as a token of gratitude for these benefits.
