c. 1900 hat associated with contemporary Chinatown physician, Dr. Louise Lindscott, whose daughter was Roberta Ghertner; black felt hat with orange knot on top, long fabric-covered wire attached.

Context

Roberta Ghertner's mother, Louise Lindscott, worked as physician in SF before earthquake, "did pro bono work in opium dens," married a physician and started Berkeley Free Clinic after earthquake. Other materials given to Berkeley Historical Society (medical kit, etc.)
