For centuries it has been noted for its fine food and friendly atmosphere. The word "LICHEE" refer tp the Lichee nut trees thsat abound in the area and the word "HWON" refers to the inland waterway which is in the shape of a crescent. It is also worth noting that the finest foods in all of China are prepared and served in Canton or Kwongchow as it is called by the natives. In fact, an old Chinese proverb says that you should -- Be born in Suchow....."The province with the most beautiful women," Dine in Kwongchow...."The province with the best food," Rest in Luchow........"The province making the finest furniture." When we selected the name Lichee Hwon we had all these things in mind. We wanted to bring to you, all that is fine from ancient Lichee Hwon--the beauty--the delicious food--the gracious service--the friendly atmosphere--the warm hospitality."
