Back: "Ancient Chinese No. 22."; "The Chinese Phoenix, Fung-Hwang or Ho-Ho bird, is pre-eminent for elegance and benevolence. It appears to have been a kind of pheasant or a bird of paradise. It was supposed to neither injure living insects nor growing herbs, but lived in the highest regions of the air and only descended to earth as the harbinger of good tidings -- happy events to individuals, prosperous reigns to emperors.
