Travelaire Anchor Company Suitcase with an emigration photo, Chinese telephone directory, and an English language book inside.
Suitcase is beige with brown stripes with thin red edges along each stripe. There are brass hinges and clasps. The handle has worn leather around it. Maker's mark of suitcase: "Travelaire Anchor Company Friedberg Grunauer San Francisco Los Angeles".
Items inside:
Emigration photograph is of a nine year old girl named Lee Choy [N]gon. On the front of the photo it reads, "By appointment of the late H.E. Sir Arthur Kennedy K.O.B./A. Fong Hong Kong/Emigrants Photographer". The back of the photo has a stamp which reads, "Nanking May 30, 1922 San Francisco" with an embossed stamp that reads, "For Chinese Affair".
