Black silk, with golden silk tiger overlay, embroidered with black stitched edges and a padded tail. Fabric covered appliqued face features with black fur trim around the eyes and appliqued gold paper "Wang" (King) character on the bridge of the nose. Inside each ear are tiny child figures. The back of the hat has two silver paper appliqued flowers and an attached black silk back flap. The flap is bordered with silk chain stitched flowers and a painted floral spray on a white paper inset. Possibly from Hebei Province.Context
