A scrapbook with photos, news clippings and documents covering the history of the Church of the Red Rocks from 1975 to 1981. The church continued to grow under the leadership of Rev. Alice Snow, accepting the 600th member in October 1981. Heath Seapy, Director of Music, presented several concerts including the Festival of Joy Concert and a Christmas Oratorio Concert. The choir performance of the Messiah on Dec. 13, 1981 had 404 people in attendance. The Women’s Fellowship was busy with two Salon Sales. In July 1982 the Sedona Vacation Bible School was held at the Church of the Red Rocks. It was a cooperative effort with 4 other area churches and had 55 children in attendance. Alice Snow was the speaker for Women of the Rocky Mountains Conference of the United Church of Christ in 1981. She was also honored on her 10th Anniversary of Ministry at the Church of the Red Rocks on Oct. 23, 1983 and presented a “This Is Your Life” quilt. March 25, 1984 was a special occasion marking the retirement of Alice Snow and the burning of the church’s mortgage. March of that year also saw the Dedication of the Columbarium. With Alice’s retirement, Rev. Robert H. Midgley became Interim Minister. The Church called Rev. Ronald G. Stegall to serve as pastor, but he declined the invitation on Oct. 31, 1984, Rev. Robert Midgley continued to serve. Rev. Dr. George Ault was called to the Church of the Red Rocks Feb. 6, 1985 and accepted the call. On Feb. 17, 1985, April 14, 1985 and Dec. 6, 1985 the church celebrated its 25th anniversary. A booklet was created for the anniversary celebration entitled “The First Quarter Century”. Bonnie Deaver is the 700th member to join the Church of the Red Rocks. Rev. Midgley’s last Sunday was May 5, 1985. Frederick Swann held an organ recital on June 28, 1985 and Rev. Dr. George Ault’s first service was June 30, 1985. His Installation was held on Oct. 6, 1985. Building expansion plans began in 1985 and at the Jan 1986 Annual Meeting the congregation approved the plans. Feb. 1987, Joe Barclay & Gladys Reed held a concert to benefit the church building fund. The scrapbook contains a booklet “1961 – 1966 Yearbook” which Includes Membership Roll, Report of Financial Secretary for 1965, Clerk – Historian’s report, Report of the Deaconesses, Trustee’s Report, Officers for 1966, Deacons report for 1965 and Report of Women’s Fellowship 1965.
