Beautiful new stained glass hanging lights were dedicated at the Church of the Red Rocks Sunday, Sept. 15, 1974. The project was the brainstorm of Preston Smith, who with the help of Volney Peck, Herbert and Elsa Boedecker and Bernard Porjack spent over 500 man hours of volunteer work on the new lights. Each chandelier contains 78 pieces of glass. Light amber is the basic color, complemented by two darker shades of amber and brown, orange-red and green.
When Preston Smith offered to design the lights there were arguments against the change! However, 18 out of 30 at the council meeting voted in favor of the twelve lights.
