Context

This sewing machine was manufactured by the Domestic Sewing Machine Company, Orange, Massachusetts, which was established in 1864 by William A. Mack & N.S.C. Perkins. Although never as well-known as its competitor Singer, Domestic machines were well made and popular, selling over a million machines by 1890.
