"Toño Antonio had the faith that moves mountains--he also had a temporarily disabled father, a mother too heartsick to sing about her work, many hungry little brothers and sisters, and five goats--Berta, Adelina, Mariana, Prudencia, and Ventura. He had chosen "Ventura" mainly for luck, the name meaning "Fortune." And with the goats and his father's guitar, he started for the port town, two days' walking distance from the farm in Spain where he lived.
