2018.227.1Description
Pants. Wool, natural cream (very dark, almost yellow). Men's. Button fly; fastens with six brass buttons plus one brass button for safety tab. Buttons printed w/"Sanders & Johnson". Machine sewn. Four very wide belt loops (7cm). Side pockets. Pocket and waistband facings are cotton twill. Inside of back legs have thin cotton twill piece sewn on (protection of some sort?). Back waistband has small yoke and v-notch. Coin pocket right front. Waistband has crudely embroidered numbers or letter: 5303 or S303, etc. (Also found in 2018.228.1) Condition: Good. Fabric has some moth damage but only four actual tiny moth holes at left front crotch. Extensive staining on twill. <Can ignore> Side seams are interesting: front piece folded over and sewn to back piece. Alsoinside leg seam allowances differ greatly on front and back pieces (like, 1.5 in on back and >.25 in on front)Create Date
