Butterfly made of molten bronze using the lost wax technique and a plaster mold. Polished stone cemented in after removing from plaster mold. Silver antennae soldered on last.
As the daughter of a prolific artist mom, who worked in many media, I wanted to experiment with casting in bronze when visiting my parents who had all the necessary equipment. I had tried lost wax once years before to make a gold ring holding a precious stone. At the time I made this, I was intrigued with butterflies, so chose that as my subject matter. This experiment in a new medium was a work of joy for me to create this sculpture. My artistic energy these days is expressed by my flower arranging with plant matter found in my yard.Type of Sculpture
