Ferns from the #178 HBR Conantum yard were pressed, arranged and adhered to glass. This panel is one of four panels used for the door of a coat closet that Hugo Logemann built next to a structural support column in the dining room area of the Heath's Bridge Road home.
Ferns of all kinds were featured in the gardens at #178 HBR and represented my Mother's love of Nature and wild flowers. Hugo assisted Pennie in decorating the glass doors of a china cabinet with pressed Maidenhair ferns, as well as other creative uses of spaces at #178 HBR. Outside, Hugo built retaining and free standing fieldstone walls. Pennie developed award winning wild flower gardens, including a swamp loop walk in the backyard.
Pennie and Hugo Logemann Jr. were 1952 "original Conantum settlers" who lived at 17 Heath's Bridge Road (later to become #178 HBR) until they moved in 1993 to Carleton-Willard Village in Bedford, MA.
