High fire stoneware ceramics. I glazed the piece for the red color and poured a white glaze across it prior to firing. To my surprise, the white glaze crackled and created what immediately looked like a very happy dinosaur!
The joy of this piece is its spontaneity. One of the wonderful things about ceramics is that in glazing, you can go for exacting design, but sometimes the glaze and the kiln firing decide to go their own way. This is one of those pieces, and it always makes me smile.
