Self Portrait - Liela ReaDescription
A self portrait by my Mom, and long-term Conantum resident, Cornelia (Liela) Rea. The portrait not only shows her technical rendering skill, it also "captures" her. It's realistic and also expressionistic. She looks into the mirror with an open and honest gaze, strong and self-assessing.
Liela Rea was a talented painter, who painted throughout her life. She had paintings that showed in some exhibits in Southern VT, where our family spent many summers. This self portrait was painted in VT and so shows her in a place that she was deeply connected to. She passed in May of 2017 and is missed greatly.Type of Painting
