A legal document, Release of Dower, stating that Ann Campbell, wife of Dougald Campbell, will release her dower to her son George Campbell.
Physical Characteristics: A legal document, a release of dower of Ann Campbell and Dougald Campbell to George Campbell, is on a large piece of paper which is folded in half like a card to create four pages. All pages have red lines to create a border and a left-hand margin. The pages have both preformatted black, typeset text and black handwritten text.
The first page has "This Indenture" in large, stylized black text at the top, followed by the date, "Twentieth day of December on thousand eight hundred and Seventy-five".
The second page has the names of Ann Campbell and Dougald Campbell with their mark, an "x" in between their first and last name. To the right of both names is a red sticker.
The third page is blank at the top and then has text at the bottom, stating the terms of the witness. The witness's signature, Allen Cook, is at the bottom right.
The fourth page has text that is vertical. The top half is preformatted text with blank lines. The document is folded so the bottom half of the fourth page can be used as the title of the document, Release of Dower. Below the title is the law firm, "Moberly & Gamon," handwritten in black ink.Archive Details
