George and Flora Campbell's mortgage document was awarded on September for $450. The lending (mortgage) company was The Western Canada Loan and Savings Company; and the mortgage contract was done by Robinson O'Brien& Scott, Solicitors of Toronto. The signatures were witnessed in the Town of Collingwood by Arthur Arnold Mahaffy, a student-at-law.
Physical Characteristics: A large piece of thick paper folded in half , like a card, to create four pages outlining the mortgage agreement from Western Canada Loan and Savings Company to George and Flora Campbell on September 14, 1878. The paper is white with thin, printed red lines creating a border around the black text on the first three pages (front and two inside pages). The first (front) page has "This Indenture" in large, bold, stylized text on the first line. Most of the text is preformulated but there are certain lines where black, handwritten text was added such as the date (14th September 1978), names (George Campbell), mortgage amount ($450) and location of land. The text is written vertically on the back page. The mortgage document is folded, so the back page is showing, and creates four sections form the folds. In the first section is a blue stamp with text to explain that this is a copy and blank sections are handwritten in black ink. The next section has "Mortgage" in bold in the centre. The other two sections are filled with black text.Archive Details
