Scope and Content

A small cardboard Grand Trunk Railway train ticket. The front of the ticket is vertically striped purple and light brown; in the center is a typed black title: "Grand Trunk Railway, Exhibition Excursion, Thornbury to Collingwood & ret." Below that, written in smaller typed words is "Good only for a continuous trip each way, going Sept 24th, 26th, or 27th, returning no later than Sept (date crossed out in red pen), 1895. Not transferable." Below that in large print is "Adult's Ticket." In the bottom left-hand corner in red pen is the number 26. Along the right-hand top side in black type font is 226. In the center, in red pen, something is written that is unreadable. There is a puncture hole in the center right-hand side of the ticket. The back is light brown, and there is a stamp on the top side of the ticket. The stamp is purple in colour and reads "Sept. 26, 1896, Thornbury."
