Court Documents (3 pages) of a case between Charles McFayden and Josiah Marcus Roberts (Creditors) versus Dougald Campbell (Debitor) and George Campbell (Garnisher)
Physical Characteristics: Three pages (2 legal and 1 letter sized) are held together by a metal fastener. The first page is legal sized and has black, handwritten text on both the front and the back. The top, front of the first page is titled, "In the County Court of the County of Grey", and in the top right corner below the title it lists the people involved in the proceedings: "Charches McFayden and Josiah Marcus Roberts Judgment Creditors vs Dougald Campbell Judment Debtor and George Campbell Garnisher". At the bottom of page one is the date, "twenty-ninth day of May 1878". The first page has "McFayden vs Campbell" written verticall and then to the right an itemized list of three documents held by Mssrs McFayden and Roberst. (See Custom for a transcription of Page 1).
The second page is a handwritten letter in black ink on lettersized piece of letterhead paper for "Creasor & Morrison, Barristers, Attorneys, Solicitors in Chancery &c., John Creasor Duncan Morrison". At the top, right corner of the second page is the date, "21st June 1878". The second page only has writing on the front of the page and the handwritting is almost illegible.
The thrid page is a ledger sheet from the Registry Office, North Riding of the County of Grey and is dated, "OWEN SOUND, 17th September A.D. 1878 at the hour of 11 o'clock a. M.". This ledger sheet from the Registry office lists legal documents (deeds, lease, mortgage, etc.) associated with a property, "The South 1/2 of LOT 19 CON. Second TOWNship OF Collingwood", which is found under the date. Twelve lines of the ledger have been filled out in faded black, handwritten text. Notes were added and the black ink is darker. At the bottom of the page the Register, "Jas Douglas", has signed on the dotted line. On the back of this page, along the top edge are three lines of text, "G. Campbell, Abstract, Certificates".Archive Details
