A small pre-written postcard detailing the information for the next meeting of the Thornbury branch (No. 243) of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. The full content is as follows:
"I.O.O.F., THORNBURY, NO. 243 / Dear Sir and Bro.: A meeting of Thornbury Lodge, No. 243, I.O.O.F., will be held in the Lodge Rooms on Sunday, June 27th 1943 at 2 p.m., for the business marked off in the margin. Please attend. Yours Fraternally, [signature] Recording Secretary."
The margins have different manners of business listed as follows (l-r): "Decoration / Church Services / Funeral / Social Evening / D.D.G.M. Visit / G.L.O. Visit / Special Meeting / Initiation / First Degree / Second Degree / Third Degree / Nomination / Election / Installation". On this letter, 'Decoration' has a checkmark next to it.
The date-specific information was handwritten, as was the signature of the recording secretary. The front of the postcard is addressed to "Robert Mackey Esq, Town" and has a one-cent stamp printed in the upper right corner. The words "CANADA POST CARD" appear on the front as well.
