Scope and Content

A booklet about the cost of living issued by the Wartime Prices and Trade Board. This article discusses whether the cost of living has actually gone up or not and the various issues involved with the statistical information. Physical Characteristics: The booklet is made of two white sheets of paper, folded in half and held together by two staples along the crease. The folded sheets of paper create an eight-page booklet. The text and graphics are printed in black. The front page has a large, black printed rectangle at the top. Inside the black rectangle is the title of the booklet, "Is the COST-OF-LIVING INDEX phoney?", in white. Below the title, the author's name, "C. H. Herbert", is printed in black. The booklet is filled with black text, but there are four black-and-white graphics on pages 3, 4, 6 and 8.
