A colour photograph, with rounded corners, is of the opening of Thornbury Town Hall. Mayor Gordon Pyatt is standing in front of the podium, which is set up at the top of the concrete step to the town hall double doors. Behind the mayor are five men sitting. The five men from left to right: man half in the photo is unidentified; MP Gus Mites; the reverend; MPP Bob McKessock; and another unidentified man in a light coloured suit. In the background is the town hall building which is brown brick with brown a shingled roof and large tinted windows. There are concrete steps up to the double, front doors. In the bottom of the photograph are people's heads.
The back of the photograph paper plain white with "FUJICOLOR PAPER" watermarked on it.
