Black and white photographic print showing a horse-drawn stoning machine on the farm of Jesse James in Collingwood Township in 1904, pictured left to right are Wilfred Dawson, Wesley James seated atop the machine and Jesse James driving the team of horses called Dick and Charley. A typed, paper label is affixed to the reverse side that reads "In 1904 this photograph of a Stoning Machine was taken on lot 12, concession 6, on the farm of Jesse James. There were several designs of machine to remove large boulders from fields. In this model the tripod is winched together until the boulder is clear of the ground and then the contraption is driven to the edge of the field. Jesse James is driving the team - Dick and Charley. Wesley James is sitting on the machine and the hired man, Wilfred Dawson, an Englishman is walking behind the back wheel.".Photograph Details
