Scope and Content

A legal document states that Ann "Nanny" Campbell, wife of Dougald Campbell, gives up all her Dower or claim to her husbands land if she survives him. The land instead goes to Dougald's son, William Dougald Campbell. Physical Characteristics: A legal document is handwritten in black ink on a large piece of paper, which has been folded in half (like a card) to create four pages. The first page is filled with black, handwritten text and at the very bottom is the Ann Campbell with an "x" in between the first and last name. The "x" is Ann Campbell's mark (similar to signature), which is indicated by the word "her" above the "x", and the word, "mark", below the "x". There is a red, circular seal to the right of the signature. The second page (or interior left half) is has handwriting from the top to half way down. This is signed by witnesses: Andrew Grier and Thomas Hamlin. The third page (or interior right half) is blank, but the ink from the back page has bled through. The document is folded again, and these fold make the back page appear to be divided into four different sections. Only one section of the back page is filled, the other three are blank. The one section has handwritten text which is vertical to the text on the other pages. There is also a blue stamp with black handwriting in the blank spaces.
