Black-and-white photographic print showing an early landscape view of the top of Blue Mountain, looking toward the area that would later be developed as the modern residential community of Swiss Meadows.
Foreground: A rustic, farm-style barbed-wire fence runs horizontally across the immediate forefront of the frame. Directly behind this boundary is a wide, open agricultural field.
Midground: A second wire fence delineates the far edge of the first field, opening up into a secondary open pasture or field that leads toward the escarpment edge.
Background: Beyond the open clearings, the terrain rises into a prominent rocky outcrop, culminating in a sheer, dramatic cliff face of the Niagara Escarpment. A layer of bright white snow is visible capping the plateau just above the cliff line.
On the back of the photograph, hand written in pencil, is "Top / Where Swiss Meadows / Is Now / Taken Mid 1940 / Geo. Foster".Photograph Details
